The Chosen One...

Here are some ok (and some not ok -_-) sketches for my Buffy redesign project ^_^ I'm not 100% on what look I'm going for yet - I'm kinda floating in the ether lol but I'll keep going and just see what happens.

Twinkle Twinkle...

These are just a couple of rubbishy pages of me testing out Art Rage on my Mac - I want to do all of the work for this project with digital programs, but I have zero practice, so I've a long way to go -_- but I love Art Rage, and am working on getting Painter 11, which is also wonderful to use, so hopefully it'll look awesome in the end :)

What's That Coming Over The Hill...

These pieces were done as quick sketches for a collaboration project - it's based on the story of a small boy who is plagued by monsters at night, who then reads the comic book about a superhero that defeats the monsters and then appears out of the comic to save the boy. So I was asked to make up some monster-y shapes, using what had been previously drawn, and make them look a little menacing or scary while still staying with the style - big hands and wrists, stylised shapes. So here are a few things I came up with - the top one are three of the final shapes.

I was also asked to draw a few superhero ideas, but I didn't get far with that. I will be designing it further, but mainly will focus on laying out and drawing up the comic book pages that will be used in the animation. But here is one page of the superhero stuff :)

Another Blog!

Yes, we have finally started our Final Major Porject of second year 2D Animation, and as a Design for Animation student, I now have 3 seperate projects to juggle for the next 6 months. It'll be an awful lot of work, but I'm really looking forward to it ^_^

First project is a character redesign brief - I'm gonig to take the cast of Buffy and redesign them for an animated series (though I don't know what media or age group yet).

Second is a animated series title sequence for a show of our choice, or a game or film trailer. No animation, but a final animatic and full storyboards are needed. No idea about this one yet, but I'll get one eventually (I may decide to do an animated title sequence for a children's book that I wrote and painted half of in summer)

Third is a collaboration project with whoever we like, doing some of the design or prep work for whatever project they are creating. I have been speaking to a number of people - two possible Toon Boom colouring requests for final animations in my 2D class, a story/character creation help request for a 2D animator, and a current working idea for a character design from a member of CG.

So yes, we'll see :) All sounds fun ^_^ So...on we go!
